Brother Younus Abdullah Muhammad of IslamPolicy.com was charged by the US federal authorities in connection with ‘threats’ made last year against the creators of “South Park.” He is the second person charged in the “South Park” case after brother Abu Talhah al-Amrikee.
What is South Park and What is this case all about?
South Park is a satirical animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It lampoons on a wide range of topics, including religion, and is known for its absolute disregard for people’s sensibilities. In its season fourteen episodes 200 and 201, the creators satirised the depiction of the Prophet Muhammad(saws) and showed him(saws) disguised in a bear suit.
In response to this deplorable act, the brothers at Revolution Muslim(now Islampolicy) posted a warning against the creators of South Park, and also posted Trey Parker’s and Matt Stone’s address on their website. This “warning” was taken as a “threat” and later resulted in the imprisonment of Abu Talhah al-Amrikee.
“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid, and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”(Revolution Muslim)
Is this what America’s “Freedom of expression” and “Freedom of speech” is? Is this what they brag about around the world? Are these the “values” and “principles” that they forcefully want to spread across the world? Their so-called “values” and “principles” are based on duplicity and hypocrisy, they have no respect for other people’s beliefs and faith. For them everything is a funny paper strip.
“There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins. Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices.” Isaac Hayes on his departure from South Park.
