For Pentagon Internet is a new War domain

A recently released report by the United States Department of Defense says that the, “National security is being redefined by cyberspace,” and outlines five strategies for operating in it:

  • Treat cyberspace as an operational domain to organize, train, and equip so that DoD can take full advantage of cyberspace’s potential.
  • Employ new defense operating concepts to protect DoD networks and systems.
  • Partner with other U.S. government departments and agencies and the private sector to enable a whole-of-government cybersecurity strategy.
  • Build robust relationships with U.S. allies and international partners to strengthen collective cybersecurity.
  • Leverage the nation’s ingenuity through an exceptional cyber workforce and rapid technological innovation.
With attacks on its security systems coming from both state and non-state actors, Pentagon seems to be readying itself to a full blown cyber warfare.

Very interesting. What’s even more fascinating is how Wikileaks is involved as well. Do you think this internet war is a recent phenomenon or is hidden, old and only just now out in the open?

It’s always been there. Pentagon till now was fighting this war through its proxies. Individuals and groups with varying interests have always helped government agencies to fight Internet hackers, Muslims whom they refer as ‘extremists,’ and anyone and everyone who they don’t like, It’s just now that they have officially declared the web as a war zone. If you ask why now? Then its because, Pentagon recently announced that it has lost close to 24,000 files/documents when its contractors’ security system was breached by hackers, various corporations’ systems were also hacked into, which is quite intimidating, and I believe after the Arab Revolution or the Continuing Arab Revolution has taught great lessons to countries across the world, and governments and government run defence agencies want to have more control on the web.
And good to hear from you again.

And it was a pleasure for me to view your blog after a long time, too.

Your views are brilliant, and I’m sorry to bother you with another question, but could you please write about the whole America going into default thing? Insha Allaah. How do you think it could affect the world, and America itself? JazakAllaahu khair akhi!
