In American Custody

Since 9/11 over 1900 Muslims have been arrested on alleged Terrorism charges. Most of them have never been convicted for any offence. While some of them have been released, the rest are still behind bars, away from their families, away from their friends.

Their homes have never remained the same, because for every arrest and detention, a family has lost a father, a brother, a husband, or a son, who in the most cases were the sole breadwinner for them. Shackled and transported miles away from their countries, they are rarely ever allowed to have any communication with the outside world, their soul mutilated, and their honour castrated. Families have not known peace and happiness for years, for they have no information of the whereabouts of their loved ones.

For many Muslim Prisoners this Ramadan will mark another year in Custody, for them there is only hope, for them there is only Allah, and Allah is sufficient for all of us.
